Does anybody know if rat mites and/or lice can be transmitted to ferrets? I have both being housed in one room, and just unfortunately found out that some of my rats have mites or lice. I will be treating them ASAP, im very worried though. Thank you for your help.

I've been working on hand taming my Namco. She has a lot of energy, so she moves around a lot when I take her out, but she doesn't seem to be afraid. I thought I was making good progress until I let my friend hold her for a while and she fell asleep in her hand. She took a nice long 30 minute nap with my friend. I was so jealous! Today I picked her up and cradled her in the fold of my shirt. She fell asleep! I'm so glad Nammy trusts me! At least, I think that's what it means.

I want to ask you guys a question:

WHEN DO YOUR HAMSTERS GET UP AND WHEN TO BED? (especially dwarf hamsters)

couse I tend to pick hamsters, that like to get up past 11pm and go to bed before 6am. which is annoying since then I hardly have any time work with them.


and another question:

is it true that dwarf hamster are not necessarily aktiv at night? couse I've read that they also tend to get up at day and all.
has anyone got any experience with them?

as well as how long should you leave your Roborovski alone at first so he can get used to everything?
I've heared now everything from1  day till "a very long time" and it kinda annoyes me couse he's so fucking shy I'm not even allowed to talk to him or something.

I worry that Snake is getting bored. It seems like he runs on his wheel less and has been climbing his cage more. He doesn't give a crap about tubes (I've tried plastic and cardboard). The only way I've gotten him to climb into one was when I put a treat in, and he just took the treat and then ignored the tube again.

Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe something I can make/use to put treats in that he has to work get them out? I can't play with him because he's not really hand tame (he's a dwarf).

Well, we had an amazing day there. What a lovely place and what wonderful people. Not to mention the lovely hot drinks and cupcakes.
It was non-stop. There was always someone crowded around us Wear Valley Ferret Rescue folks. We did lots of educating and I think we changed a few minds about ferrets being stinky bitey creatures.
Although I think Cooper stole the show. Was funny how many people thought he was just one gigantic ferret and when you said he was a skunk some of the facial reactions were excellent.

So yes, a great day out. That was their last day to be open to the public I believe but when they hold another open day, I recommend you go along if you live in the area and see all the animals and meet the lovely folk there. The cafe there is yummy and they have a nice little gift shop too. :)

Last night I finished up all my art for Furfest and Johnnie matted everything for me. I also started packing for the show that we go and set up for this evening. Then we get to come home and look at ornaments until we are too tired and go to sleep.

Tomorrow is the start of Faeriecon. We open at one to the public and close at 6pm. Johnnie will not be there all day as he has some important customers at work he is taking care of. My father in law (Mr. Evans to you) will be there for the day helping out.

I'm very new to this community!

yesterday I bought me a new hamster (roborovski) because I had to let my teddyhamster be put to sleep (he had a braintumor and I cried all night). so I bought me a new one and wanted to try a different one and I picked a roborovski.

I wanted to ask wether there's anyone who's experienced with those little funny fellows and could give a little advice or two. I already know what they want and how they are but I'm just curious wether you guys know anything else that can not be found in books or something!!

Boy I'm out of practice. I should rectify this.

Alright so I cleaned Pickles cage on Sunday. By Monday morning she had tipped her bowl over and made a mess in her nice clean cage. Monday night I set it right side up again and put more food in. I had to completely re-fill it yesterday because I didn't want her to starve. Well I noticed tonight that she has emptied her bowl again and moved all of it to the corner! SILLY HAMSTER! Its in a nice neat pile. I have no idea how she got it stacked up like that but frankly, I am not refilling her bowl lol. She knows where that food is..she can eat off of it. I usually try to refill it often because she doesnt like the tiny seeds, only the big ones so I make sure there are plenty of those. She must be hiding all of the goodies.

Do your hams do this too?

So I've been thinking for awhile now about doing this. I call it "name your own price commissions". And basically what that means is you will tell me how much you want to pay, you can pay any amount you want with the minimum of $5..sorry but I do have to make profit off this because commissions are my only source of income atm...

Depending on the price you pay determines the quality and time that I will spend on your picture.
For instance, if you paid $5 you get a sketch, $10 would get you a badge. The higher the price the more pictures you may get too, so if you paid $50 you could get a digital picture of your character and a traditional picture of your character.

I am taking unlimited spots for these so don't worry about not being able to get in on this deal!
